Elissa was coming to the end of a 6-month stay in Xalapa, so I wanted to get down for a visit before she left.

I was here briefly ten years ago when I retraced the route of the conquistadors across Mexico, and I was particularly happy to return. I flew into Mexico City and we had a quick visit with Jose's family, then headed out for the five hour drive. Elissa wanted to be in town for the Sunday Ecological Market.

It's in the courtyard of a downtown building that houses the university's radio station. Organic growers and alternative producers come into town to sell their wares; there is a restaurant, and usually some music. Jose's dancers performed their recently.

Later, we went to the Anthropology Museum, which was beautiful as well as interesting.
