Notice the swallowtail butterfly in the first three shots below. It was so still for so long, that I began to doubt that it was a butterfly at all; I thought it might have been an illusion created by sticks or leaves. It never moved. I went back to work. Later, when I looked again, it was gone. But when I looked through a field guide, I saw that it was clearly a swallowtail. |
