Placerita White Oil:

It was the strangest thing, there by the side of the trail. Oil bubbling out of the ground. Like on the Beverly Hillbillies! It smelled oily. It felt oily. Later, at the nature center, we were told that in the old days the ranchers used it to run their Model T's.
